Nanny Interview

"I could." I chuckled. "There's a difference between someone else's kid and Abel. A big difference." I smiled. "Besides, think of the money I could make. I might be able to afford a car!"

I chuckled and shook my head. Mostly because I knew I could never do it. Not because I couldn't give up the person's kid but because I couldn't give up my time with Jax or Abel. Getting a new car and a small house would be a much better upgrade in my life but I'd rather keep what I had and spend that time with the boys.

"Huh?" I pouted as Jax held his hands out for Abel. I didn't want to let him go, even though doing it now would be easier than when I had to leave Jax to get some sleep. So I kissed the side of Abel's head and then handed him over to Jax. "I s'pose I can share."

I pointed over to the couch to show Jax that he could sit down with Abel, and I grabbed Abel's diaper bag and dragged it over there with my shoulders slumped.. I was mostly just playing though. At least I could still play with him while Jax held him. Rather than me having to leave for the entire night.

"I kind of volunteered us to help move Cyn this weekend.. I hope you don't mind." I smiled sheepishly. I figured I'd ask about the club thing later.. when there wasn't a stranger around. I didn't know how Jax would feel talking about the club in front of two complete strangers.. to him anyway.

"He'd probably like it, you know.. you running around the apartment whlie he held on to your hair." I chuckled and lowered my voice. "So be careful what you say around him."

I winked at her to show that I was joking and when I had Ash's hand free he wiggled out of Cyn's lap and I finished wiping away the sticky mess that was left there. I felt bad of course but considering she'd been around kids plenty of times before, I knew she understood.

"Bubble gum?" I blinked. "How did you manage to get that out? Is that why you're hair is so short?"

I joked and laughed a little as I ran my fingertips lightly through her hair. A sweet strawberry smell drifted my way and I smiled to myself. Strawberry had always been my favorite smell.. it was interesting to know that Cyn's hair smelled that way too.

"Nah, you'll be making my life a lot less miserable." I chuckled. "Being a single parent really sucks."

I took my hand away from her hair finally and then stood up. I gave Jax a wave and chuckled as he took Abel away from Evelyn and she pouted. I sat back down in my chair again and gave Jax a wave.

"It's nice to meet you too. Evelyn wouldn't stop talking about you earlier." I pointed to Cyn. "I hope you don't mind moving her in." I chuckled. "I know what it's like to be volunteered for something. My girlfriend use to do that all the time."

I giggled at his warning "Duly noted."

I sighed slightly when he asked about my hair. I wasn't sighing because I'd had to cut my long curly hair to this short wild mess; I was sighing because I was enjoying his fingers running through my hair.

"Yeah. His mom wanted to use peanut butter to get it out, but I told her I'd rather cut my hair than add peanut butter to the bubble gum mess" I laughed

I smiled when he said I'd be making his life less miserable. Truth was, moving in here with him and taking care of Ash was going to make my life less miserable.

"Oh well, no worries now. You've got help" I grinned

I got comfortable in my chair and finally looked at Jax when Riley went and sat back down. He was cute, but a little too hairy for me.

"If you've got better things to do" I chuckled at him "I'll understand."

I laughed "I'll buy you a car, ok?" I snickered "You're practically Abel's nanny anyway..hell" I snorted "you're practically his mother"

I smirked as she pouted and handed me Abel "Oh thanks for sharing my kid with me" I chuckled

I gave Abel a kiss and grinned at him "Hey little man, remember me?" I snickered teasingly at Eve.

I sat down on the couch and enjoyed getting to hold Abel for a while. I looked at Riley and shrugged

"Nice to meet you too, Eve's been talking a lot about you since you got back too. And I don't mind helping; I'm used to getting volunteered for stuff"

I looked over at Cyn and chuckled "Nah, seriously, it's ok. I probably would have offered anyway if I hadn't already been volunteered"

"I'm not his nanny." I chuckled. "I like watching him.. it's how I like spending my free time." I leaned my head on Jax's shoulder and reached over and held my hand out to Abel because he was playing with my fingers. "And I don't need you to buy me a car." I laughed but blushed a little. "Seriously."

I shifted and blushed more when Jax said I was practically Abel's mother. It wasn't that I was embarrassed but because I liked the thought. We had never talked about Abel's real mom though and I could tell it was a sore spot with Jax so I didn't feel comfortable even thinking of Abel in the 'my' sense. Like I did with Jax.

"Okay okay.. I'll leave you have your kid then." I said sourly, still pouting. "Since he's yours after all."

I chuckled and shrugged sheepishly when Jax teased me more by asking Abel if he remembered him. I crossed my legs and kept my head on Jax's shoulder as I looked over at Cyn.

"Wanna see the room you'll be staying in? Maybe it'll give you ideas how to decorate it."

"Yeah I wouldn't want someone to be putting peanut butter in my hair after that either." I chuckled and reached over again to run my fingers through her hair. "If it counts, I like the shorter look anyway. It suits you."

I gave her my biggest smile when she confirmed that she was here to help me now. To be honest I hadn't chosen her because of her experience or anything but because she was familiar to me. While we hadn't been best friend in high school like I was with Evelyn, I still trusted Cyn. I couldn't have picked anyone better, I knew.

"Good.. and you're not allowed to date either." I added jokingly. "No one can take you away from me just yet."

In fact, I didn't want her to ever stop being my nanny even though I knew that was unrealistic. I was finding the longer I spent with her, the more that old crush of mine from high school was starting to resurface.

"Girls." I chuckled and shook my head as Evelyn offered to show Cyn her room that she was going to be using. "Always planning on how to make things better." I winked at Ev. "Don't forget to show her which bathroom is hers too."

I smiled and blushed slightly when he said my short hair suited me "Thanks"

I laughed when he joked about me not being allowed to date "Date? Hmm..I think I tried that once" I chuckled "No worries there either"

Even though I'd sounded like I was joking, I seriously had only ever had one boyfriend. I'd lost my virginity to him and he'd left me shortly afterward because he'd gotten what he wanted. I hadn't bothered with it since then.

"Good idea" I smiled at Evelyn "That way I'll get an idea of what all I need to bring over too"

I looked at Riley and giggled "Of course I'll be planning on how to make things better" I winked "That's my job now"

I grinned and got up, but was almost knocked over when Ash suddenly came flying out from behind the couch and wrapped himself around my left leg. I blinked and laughed at his 'no go' cry.

"I'm not leaving, Ash. I'm going to be living here, so I want to see my room" I giggled, reaching down to ruffle his hair

He let me go and laughed as he climbed up onto the couch to start chatting with Jax and Abel.

I laughed at Eve as she continued pouting over me having Abel.

"Stop pouting, you get to see him almost more than I do" I chuckled "I don't know why you haven't just moved in with me yet so you never have to leave him" I teased "I know you secretly only love me for my son"

I winked at her playfully and then nodded to Riley when he talked about the girls and making things better.

"I know what you mean. Since I started dating Eve, my apartment's never been so tidy" I laughed "I'd pay her for it, but her price would prolly be Abel" I snickered

I blinked and smiled at the little kid as he climbed onto the couch beside me and started talking so fast and so much that I couldn't keep up with what he was saying. Even Abel was giving him a funny look and it made me chuckle.

I blushed furiously when Jax said I secretly only loved him for his son. It wasn't that it was true or anything but I really was falling in love with Jax.. that was something that I hadn't told him quite yet. I didn't know if either of us were ready for that and I really didn't want to scare Jax away.

"Well I'm not about to just up and move in one day while you're at work when you haven't asked.. I clean and cook and sneak into your apartment for those reasons but for anything else that'd be rude." I leaned over and kissed his cheek. "And your son is just a huge bonus, Jax. How could I possibly care about you and not your son?"

I got up and held my hand out to Cyn when she'd gotten Ash to let her go and I snickered down at Jax when he talked to Riley about paying me and the price probably being Abel.

"Oh no, hun. My price wouldn't be just Abel." I winked at him and then tugged Cyn gently down the hall. I was surprised that Jax put up with half of my shit when he wasn't actually getting anything out of it. I'd been scared to be intimate with him because I knew my heart would be his completely when I did.

"This is your room." I said to Cyn as I broke off my thoughts and opened the bedroom door that was between Riley and Ash's. There were two other doors in here. One for a walk-in closet and another that led to a small bathroom.

"The bathroom here is all yours. It's actually the master bedroom but Riley figured you'd need the space and private bathroom more than he did."

"Only once?" I chuckled. "Maybe I'll have to take you out on one to make it twice."

My eyebrow rose a little when Cyn said that she was going to plan to make things better because that was her job.. there was something about that comment that made me think there was a double meaning there. I gave her another lopsided smile though because any way that I could think she had menat that.. I actually liked.

I hadn't been with anyone in a year and had only had one girlfriend before that, which had been Ash's mother. I hadn't actually been quite as in love with her as I pretended for those few years because I wanted to be happy for Ash.. and I wanted to raise him like we were a normal family but there was always something there that I was missing. I remember imagining someone actually being happy when I got home from work.. someone actually loving Ash instead of thinking he was a burden.. and someone truly loving me. For some reason my heart leaped at the thought of Cyn being that woman.. but I knew that was ridiculous. After the way I treated her in high school, I didn't deserve her even if she would have considered anything with me.

I watched as both of the girls left the room. Being a guy I couldn't help but watch the backside of them.. but as always, Cyn's held my attention a lot more than Evelyn's ever could. I smirked to myself and then looked over at Jax.

"You know that wouldn't surprise me. When she came over today I would have sworn that was her kid." I chuckled at Ash as he talked a mile a minute to Jax and Abel and I got up and strode over to the couch, picked Ash up underneath my arm again but this time tickled him so that he squealed, giggled and squirmed under my arm.

"How many times do I have to tell you to slow it down, little man."

I blushed when Riley talked about taking me out some time. I didn't trust myself to say anything without it being squeaky, but I was pretty sure my grin spoke for itself. I was still grinning as Evelyn tugged me down the hall, but the grin disappeared when we got into my room.

"Holy crap.." I blinked, my mouth hanging open slightly "I think that closet's the size of my room back home"

I was touched that Riley had wanted to give me the big room, but I had no idea what I was going to do with so much space. I wandered around the room a little, planning it all out in my head.

"Oh nice, I'll even be able to bring my bookcases in here instead of leaving them behind" I grinned

I'd hated the thought of leaving my large collection of books up in the mountains while I was down here in town. Once I had it all planned out in my head, I turned and smiled at Evelyn.

"So, you and Jax seem happy. Congratulations on that"

I chuckled "Well you can move in any time you want, so long as you don't mind sharing a bedroom with me" I winked at her

I chuckled when she said the price wouldn't be just Abel. A little smirk formed on my face while I looked at her "Now that's a price I wouldn't mind paying"

I watched her walk down the hall and then turned my attention back to Riley. I let out a snort of amusement when he said he had thought Abel was Evelyn's

"She loves him enough for him to be" I chuckled "and she's fifty times better than the real mother."

My lips twitched into an amused smile "You do realize your nanny has a massive crush on you right? It's kinda obvious..at least to me"

I chuckled as Riley played with Ash "Man, I can't wait for Abel to be old enough to play with"

I was in a little shock over the two comments that Jax had said before leaving with Cyn. I didn't think he was serious about me moving in.. how could he be? I wasn't sleeping with him or anything so why would he want to get serious with someone who wouldn't give him the one thing he enjoyed? I was trying to think in guy terms at least, and I could understand if I was having sex with him or something.. it blew my mind.. and I honestly didn't think I could get that lucky.

"Huh? Oh." I blushed and laughed because I realized I'd been so in thought that I hadn't realized Cyn was talking to me. "Yeah we are.. thanks." I chuckled. "It's only been two weeks though.. god only knows how long he's gonna put up with me."

I made my way further into the room and then opened the bathroom door. I loved this bathroom. It made me jealous that I couldn't afford one of the better apartments like this. Everything was in marble, and the bathtub was huge. Not only that but it also had a shower and two sinks. I gave a loud sigh.

"You got lucky girl. Screw the bookcases.. look at the sort of baths you could have." I giggled and grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the bathroom with me. I climbed into the tub, forcing her to come with and then sat down so that we were facing each other, knee to knee.

"So how do you think you're going to like living here.." I waited a moment. "With Riley?"

"How long have you two been together?"

I rose an eyebrow, because they way they talked it seemed like they'd been together for a long time. I was curious about the Abel's mom too but I hesitated to ask. In the end my curiousity won over my politeness.

"Where is Abel's mom?"

I snickered when Jax pointed out that Cyn had a crush on me. I shrugged and headed back over to my chair and set Ash on his feet again. This time instead of running to anyone, he flew over to his Wii to play with. I turned the volume down so that Jax and I could still hear each other though.

"I've known since we were in high school. She's too good for me though.. trust me."

I rubbed the top of my head again and then chuckled when Jax said he couldn't wait to be able to play with Abel like that.

"Oh it'll happen faster than you think.. they grow like weeds."

"He doesn't seem like he's getting tired of you" I chuckled "He actually sounded serious about you moving in with him"

I giggled as she dragged me not only into the bathroom but into the tub with her.

"Wow, this thing is huge...I know where I'll be when Ash is asleep and the chores are done" I giggled

I gave a small shrug when she asked about me living here. I was trying not to think about the Riley part too much.

"It'll take a little getting used to. It's been just me for a long time now, so I'll have to remember not to come roaming out for breakfast in my underwear or something" I chuckled "but I adjust pretty quickly"

I scratched at an itch on my cheek for a moment, still trying to be nonchalant about Riley "As for Riley, he's my employer..and from the sound of it, he won't be home all that much. It's not like we'll be hanging out or anything. I'll try to stay out of his way as much as possible"

After all, it wasn't like Riley had ever actually been my friend. He'd just been semi-nice to me in school. I still didn't believe he'd had a crush on me.
